One tool that I have found to be extremely valuable to enhance parent communication is the Remind app.
I heard of the service before and thought it sounded like a nice tool to keep in touch with parents easily. Then open house rolled around and I had completely forgotten about setting it up. One parent came up to me and asked if I would be using the Remind app. Her son’s soccer coach used it and she loved how easy it was to stay in touch. I told her I had thought about it but didn’t get around to setting it up; but since she mentioned it I would set it up right away! I am so thankful that I did.
The feedback from parents has been overwhelmingly positive. They enjoy the little reminders, hearing about what their students are learning, and even occasional pictures from the classroom.
They can also chat with me when they have questions or just want to send a little thank you note!
The Remind app is SO easy to use. I can quickly whip out my phone and get messages out to parents within minutes. Parents love that they can get text messages to keep them up to date on what their child is doing at school. It’s a win-win!
